Pitayas from Vietnam
How often official samples of pitayas grown in Vietnam break the EU maximum residue level for pesticides, by why the sample was taken.
In 2024, 11 of 305 EU border checks (3.6%) found a pesticide above the legal limit, while the pair was under increased EU checks (20% → 30% of consignments). The year before (2023) it was 7.5% of 227 checks. Across 62 random market samples taken by 2 EU countries, 4.8% were above the limit (95% interval 1.7%–13%). The substance found above the limit most often was iprodione (12 samples).
